Dear Brian,

I want to thank you for the great experiences you provided during your Storytelling Residency at Monroe. Students are still talking about your stories and their opportunities to share stories. They speak of you as a kind of folk hero they had a chance to know!

Your stories, while mesmerizing the students were not only great stories, but great lessons in many areas. You were able to teach science, geography, history, problem solving, ecology and good values - sometimes all in the same story. We appreciated that the teachers of each grade level were able to choose their own themes and you could work within their current curriculum.

Your skills as an educator are equal to your skills as an entertaining storyteller. Your command of over 200 plus students at a time was impressive.

A highlight of our residency was the storytelling evening for families. The feedback we received from parents was most positive. The parents had a chance to share in the experience they had heard their children talk about.

It was a pleasure to get acquainted with you. We look forward to further opportunities to have you return to Monroe.

Thanks again,

A second letter after a second program a year later.

Dear Brian,

It was a pleasure to see you once again and to hear your stories. I continue to be impressed by all you touch on and teach in a single story. You are a master at weaving many fibers of life together in your tales.

The day after your visit to Monroe, my son was home ill and we spent our time listening to your tapes and playing the prairie dog game in the prairie wildlife book. It was sort of a "Brian Fox marathon". Thank you for thinking of our kids with those books. They are very well done.

It was interesting to hear of your involvements and missions. Keep us on the mailing list for any future ventures our family or school may be interested in.

Thank, again, for coming and sharing your stories and talents. Thank you, also, for making the long drive just for our performances. Our best to you and your family in all the adventures that lie ahead.

Most Sincerely,

Penny Davey
